The following local scholarships are available in the Guidance Office throughout the school year. Please watch the daily announcements to find out when these scholarships are available.

American Legion Auxiliary - $300.00
|
Based upon school record, activities, and need. Requires that a parent or a grandparent served in a branch of the military in World War I, II, Korean War, or the Vietnam conflict. Write a letter of application and include 2 letters of recommendation. February-March |
Amvets
|
Based upon school academic record, financial need, and extracurricular activities. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a current member of Amvets, Amvets Ladies Auxiliary, or Sons-of-Amvets; or of a deceased veteran who would have been eligible for membership at the time of his/her death. February-March |
| Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Inc |
This organization sponsors scholarship for 4-year college applicants and vocational-technical school applicants. Personal statements, letters of reference, and high school transcript are required to show motivation, academic background, aptitude, and need. December (4-year) January-February (2-year) |

Bremer and Butler County Farm Bureau - $500.00
|
Based upon school record, activities, and need. Applicant must be in the upper one-third of the class. Parents must hold membership in Farm Bureau. Complete application form and submit 3 letters of recommendation. February |
Bremer County Cattlemen - $500.00
|
Applicants must be a 4-H or FFA member and must have shown or raised cattle. March |
Bremer County Corn & Soybean Association - $500.00
|
Offered to students who best show their expectation to continue their education in a 2 or 4-year program leading to an agriculture-related career. Also based upon academic record, agriculture-related activities, and school and community activities. December |
Bremer County Dairy Promoters - $500.00
|
Applicants must be the children of dairy producers who have an active dairy operation or students involved in 4-H or FFA who have dairy as a project or students employed by a dairy producer. January |

Butler County Rural Electric Cooperative - $1,000.00
|
Applicants must be children of member-consumers of this cooperative. The scholarship is for 2 or 4-year college plans. Based upon letters of recommendation and the score of an open book test on rural electrification. December |
Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite
|
Based upon leadership, citizenship, scholarship, and school and community service. Not given at W-SR every year. February |

Cedar Valley Chapter of the National Association of Purchasing Managers - $1,000.00
|
This scholarship is for high school seniors planning to attend an accredited undergraduate or vocational program who have achieved at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Applicants are evaluated on participation in extracurricular activities inside and outside school and demonstration of integrity. March |

Covenant and Sartori Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship
|
Must plan a career in a health field. Based upon career interest, scholastic achievement, and financial need. February |
Daughters of the American Revolution -$500.00 |
The Revolutionary Dames Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution offers 2 scholarships to Waverly-Shell Rock graduates who plan to attend a university, college, or technical school. Based on academic performance, community service, and moral character. March |

Applicants must have an immediate family member who is a Denver Savings Bank customer. Selection is based on academic performance, financial need, and demonstration of character. April |

Based upon selection of English and business department representatives for National Honor Society. April |

This scholarship is for local students who plan to pursue a post-secondary degree in the visual arts. April |
| Fredricksburg Farmers Coop - $500.00 |
Applicants’ parents must be members of the Fredricksburg Farmers Coop and be planning to major in an agriculture-related career field. February-March |

Applicants must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, must be involved in at least one extracurricular activity, and must be actively involved in a church or community organization. November |
| Alan and Patricia Hagen Music Scholarship - $500.00 (renewable over 4 years |
Offered to students who plan to pursue a four-year degree in vocal music education, vocal performance, instrumental music, strings, or piano. March-April |
| Junior League of Waterloo-Cedar Falls - $250.00 |
This scholarship is for Cedar Valley females with a 3.0 or above GPA who demonstrate qualities of leadership, academic achievement, and voluntarism. April |

Based upon school record, participation in the athletic program, and need for financial assistance. March |
| Kenneth G. Meyerhoff - $400.00 & $700.00 |
Based upon need, demonstration of leadership, and academic achievement. March |
| National Wild Turkey Federation - $250.00 to $5,000.00 |
This organization offers a scholarship locally and sends its recipient’s application on for state and national consideration. Based upon grade point (3.0 minimum), interest in conservation and in the hunting sports, leadership, community involvement, and letters of recommendation. December-January |
| North Iowa Builders Exchange - $500.00 |
Applicants must have a 2.0 or higher GPA and plan to pursue a career in the building trades industry. November |

North Shore Boat Club - $500.00 |
The North Shore Boat Club offers this scholarship opportunity to students from the Cedar Valley area or students sponsored by a North Shore Boat Club member. Judging is based on (1) eligibility, (2) financial need, and (3) academic promise. February |
| Northeast Iowa Community Action - $300.00 |
Based upon meeting federal income guidelines, personal qualifications, and academic standing. March |
| Order of Easter Star – Waverly Chapter #353 - $500.00 |

Phi Delta Kappa Prospective Educator Scholarship – UNI Chapter - $250.00-$400.00 |
This contest is open to any high school senior in the AEA 7 area who intends to major in education. January |
| Plainfield Sportsman Club - $500.00 |
For students planning to attend college for agricultural purposes. Recipients must complete their first semester of college with at least a 2.5 GPA. May |
| Klea Shipman – up to $1,000.00 |
Applicants must be seniors at Bremer County high schools who exhibit dedication to service. Other factors of consideration include financial need, past community and church activities, and academic achievement. March |
| Tyrrell Masonic Lodge – $1,000.00 |
Based upon school record, including grade point average, test scores, and type of curriculum, financial need, extracurricular activities, and work activities. March |
| Veridian Credit Union/Iowa Credit Union League - $1,500.00, $1,000.00, & $500.00 |
These organizations offer 3 different scholarships to students who have established accounts at the Veridian Credit Union. One is the ArtShare Scholarship, which is for seniors who plan to pursue an educational program leading to a career in the arts. The other two scholarships are for juniors and seniors; these scholarships involve writing an essay about the credit union movement. December |
| VFW Ladies Auxiliary Essay Contest |
For this competition, students are required to record a 3-5 minute audio essay on a topic which varies from year to year. If selected at the local level, the recipient’s essay may advance to the district-level and possibly state-level competition. September |

| Waterloo Elkets |
Applicant must include a personal letter stating his/her life goals and educational goals and how he/she plans to achieve those goals. Selection also is based on extracurricular and community involvement, achievements, and financial need. March |

Students must plan a career in a transportation and/or business-related field. (transportation sales, management, operations, travel agency, driver, mechanic, logistics, etc.) Also based upon academics and activities. March |

Waverly Municipal Hospital Auxiliary - $300.00 |
Based upon plans to enter and ability to be successful in a health career field. Apply in March or April of the first year in a health career program. |

Applicants must have actively participated in running sports such as track or cross country. April |
