*Emilee Bates, Second Grade

This is Emilee Bates.  She grew up in Waterloo, Iowa.  Emilee graduated from Columbus High School and UNI.  Her degree is held in Elementary Education.  She lives in Waterloo and her sister goes to UNI.  She has a dog called  Izzy.  Miss Bates started teaching second grade at SE in 2009. She likes the kids and learning new teaching skills best about her job.  Emilee is nice and very pretty.  You will love her!

*Laura Beery, Art

Southeast School would like you to meet our Art teacher, Mrs. Beery. Her full name is Laura Beery. She is originally from Anthon,IA and graduated from Anthon-Oto High School. She received her BA from Buena Vista University, in Storm Lake. She likes being outside gardening, riding horseback, and boating. Indoor activities are reading, crafts, and painting. She teaches Art to second through sixth grades in our district. She has taught Art in Waverly-Shell Rock since 1990. What she likes best about her job is smiling faces, fun projects and getting to know everybody.

*Doug Boots, Speech

Mr. Doug Boots is a very nice man.  He loves to work with children and he has two of his own.  He's the Speech teacher here.  He started teaching in 1991.  Mr. Boots is originally from Marian, IA.  He has graduated from Marian High School., and UNI with a Masters Degree.  His wife, Eliza, teaches second grade at Saint Paul's School.  He's a wonderful man, and we are glad he is here!

*LeAnna Buskohl, Special Needs Preschool

 

Leanna Buskohl is originally from Grundy Center.  She graduated from Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock High School.  She also attended the University of Northern Iowa where she got her degrees in Early Childhood Education and Special Education.  She has one son.  LeAnna started here at Southeast in 2009.  She loves helping the students best about her job.  LeAnna is a great person!  I am so glad I did the interview with her!

*Connie Chesik, AEA Interpreter

I think Miss Chesik is a very nice and cool person.  She is from Waterloo.  She graduated from Columbus and UNI.  She has a BFA and a BA degree.  Miss Chesik has six wonderful grandchildren.  She started as interpreter at SE in 2009.  Her favorite thing about her job is working with the children.  I think Miss Chesik is a great person!

*Cindy Chidester, Guidance Counselor

Southeast welcomes Cindy Chidester as our new guidance counselor. Mrs. Chidester is originally from Guthrie Center. She attended UNI and Wayne State College. She has her BA and Masters degrees. Mrs. Chidester is married and has one son and one daughter.

Mrs. Chidester started here in WSR  and at Southeast in 2003. She really likes the kids and looks forward to working with them.

Southeast would like you to meet Mrs. Lisa Drape. She is originally from Waterloo, IA. She graduated from Parkersburg High School and went to Hawkeye Tech, taking night classes. She has a husband and *two daughters.  Here at Southeast she has been our secretary since 1996 and with the district since 1994. She likes talking with the children, and seeing the things they do and say.

*Jim Gates, PE

I interviewed Mr. James Patrick Gates.  He grew up in Waverly.  Mr. Gates teaches PE at Southeast.  He graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock and UNI with a degree in Physical Education and Health.  Mr. Gates is married and has two grown children and one grandson.  He taught here several years ago and is now back with us in 2009.  He loves his job because he gets to move around a lot!

*Diane Goodrich, Resource Teacher

Her name is Diane Goodrich and she came from Mason City. She graduated from Mason City High School and her college is NIACC and UNI. Her degrees held are BA and MA. In her family she has two children and a retired husband. Her position is to help kids. She has worked in this school since 2002 off and on. She enjoys working with kids.

*Carol Henning, Family Advocate

Mrs. Henning is our family advocate (though she said she does a little of everything). She is originally from Allison, Iowa. She went to college at Luther College in Decorah and has a bachelor’s degree in sociology and psychology. She has a husband and three kids.  Mrs. Henning began employment with our district in 2000.  What she loves about being here is working with boys and girls all day, and working with great staff members.

*Brenda Hite, Title One Reading and Reading Recovery

 

This is Miss Brenda Hite!  She is originally from Cedar Falls, Iowa.  Miss Hite graduated from UNI with a BA in elementary education, reading education and math education.  She has two older sisters, one younger brother, one niece, and one nephew. She came to SE to be a Title One teacher in 2008 and is also reading recovery since 2009.  Her favorite part of the job is helping students be more successful in reading.  Miss Hite is very nice!

Jenny Hoins was originally from Allison.  Her full name is Jennifer Hoins. She graduated from Allison-Bristow and went to the University of Northern Iowa.  She is married and has four children. She started at Southeast in 2009.  The best part of her job is working with awesome kids.

*Janet Hurley, Media Specialist

Janet Hurley is the Media Director at Southeast and for the whole WSR district.  Mrs. Hurley is originally from Kelley, Iowa and graduated from Ballard of Huxley, Iowa.  She went to the University of Northern Iowa.  Mrs. Hurley has a BA in Education and an MAE in Reading.  She is married and has a son and a daughter, and is a grandma!  She has been on the WSR staff since 1994.  Janet Hurley said, “I love working with children and talking about good books.”

Southeast School would like to tell you about Mrs.Sally Kittleson, the Third Grade teacher. Her degrees held are a BA from Wartburg College and a Masters from Viterbo College. She is originally from Waverly. Mrs. Kittleson graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School. She has two girls and a husband. Mrs.  Kittleson began teaching at WSR in 2000, and at Southeast in 2001.What she likes best about her job is working with children and making their third grade year a good one.

Southeast school would like to present (only the best first grade teacher ever,) Mrs. Marsha Koenig. She is originally from Postville, IA. She graduated from Postville High School, and from U.N.I. Her degrees held are a BA and a Masters Degree in Education. She has been teaching at WSR since 1987, and here at Southeast since 1997. She has three daughters, and her husband works at CUNA Mutual. What she likes about her job is helping first graders learn to read.

I would like to present Mrs. Linda Kollenkark. Her position here at Southeast is a teacher’s associate. She is originally from Waverly, Iowa. She went to WSR. She went to college at Ellsworth Junior College. Her degree is for a secretary. In her family are her husband, son, daughter-in-law, daughter, two stepdaughters, and two grand children. She has worked at Southeast School since 1983. The best thing she likes about her job is working with the kids.

Introducing our custodian, Mr. Larry Kraft. He is originally from Waverly, Iowa. Larry graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School and from Wartburg College. He has a degree in accounting. He has one brother and three nieces. He really likes meeting the students and teachers.

*Christi Lines, Principal

Mrs. Lines is originally from Plainfield, Iowa. Her full name is Christi Lines. She graduated from Plainfield High School and UNI College. The degrees she holds are BA in English, MA in Middle School Education, and MA in Education Administration. The information she would like to share about her family is that she is married and has three children. Her position here at Southeast School is being our principal! She began her job in August, 2003. The things she enjoys about her job are working with kids, teachers and families!

Arlene Mashek grew up as a farming person.  She works at Southeast serving our food. She has been at Southeast since 2008.  Mrs. Mashek likes her job because of all the great kids.  She does a really good job in our school.

 I'd like you to meet my fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Judy Meyer. She is originally from Strawberry Pont, Iowa. Mrs. Meyer graduated from Starmont High School, and graduated from Wartburg College, and Viterbo University in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. She is a National Board Certified Teacher with a BA, and an MA.  Mrs. Meyer has a husband, a son and a daughter, who are now both adults, and one grandson. She has been teaching in Waverly since 1975. Mrs. Meyer has been at Southeast since 1989.  What she likes about her job is teaching and learning with kids and getting to know all the families.

Her name is Lore’ Mick. She is originally from Cedar Falls, Iowa. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School and Loras College. Lore’ has a husband and three children. She joined Waverly-Shell Rock in 2000, and moved to Southeast in 2003.   Her position at Southeast is Media Center Associate. She loves reading to the children at Southeast.

Melissa Miller was originally from Ankeny, IA.  She graduated from Ankeny High School and went to Wartburg.  She has a BA in elementary education with a reading endorsement.  Miss Miller has a Master’s degree in teaching and learning with a special needs emphasis.  She is single and has one brother and no kids.  She is the Kindergarten teacher and has been at W-SR and Southeast since 2007.  She said, "I like seeing new things and students enjoying school."

Southeast School would proudly like to introduce Mrs. Bonnie Moeller. She is originally from Clarksville and graduated from Clarksville High School. She has been here since 1984.  She has three children who went to Southeast as children, two grandsons, and five granddaughters.  Her jobs here are reading associate and  building associate.  She thinks the best thing about working here is being around the children.

*Matt Nelson, Technology Coordinator

Meet our technology coordinator Matt Nelson. Mr. Nelson was born and raised in Waverly. He graduated from W-SR High School. He went to college at Wartburg. Mr. Nelson earned his BA in music. His wife is the High School orchestra teacher. They have one daughter and a son. Mr. Nelson has been here at W-SR since 1998. His favorite thing about his job is helping people with their computers.

This is Tracey Neuendorf.  She is originally from Tripoli, Iowa.  She graduated from Tripoli High School.  She went to Luther College and got a BA in elementary Education.  She continued her education and got an MA from UNI in Speech.  Tracey has a husband and two children.  She started in 2009 at SE as Speech Pathologist.   She says her favorite part of her job is working with the kids.

Wendy Noel works in the cafeteria at Southeast School.  She is originally from Evansdale, Iowa, and she graduated from high school at North Pacific.  Mrs. Noel has 2 kids.  Her husband is a sergeant.  She has been working at Southeast School since 2007.  She can’t wait to see the kids and enjoys working with the staff.

Jen Renner is a teacher from Cedar Falls High School and graduated from Upper Iowa University with an Elementary Education Special Needs degree.  She has a husband and two daughters.  Her position her is special needs associate.  She started working here at SE in 2009.  Her favorite part of working here is seeing everybody's happy faces.

Our friendly school nurse is Mrs. Jaime Lynn Robbins from La Porte City, Iowa. She graduated from Union High School. She went to Wartburg and Allen Colleges. 2005 was her first year with WSR. She has a BA in Biology and a BS in nursing. Mrs. Robbins is married and has one daughter. She is looking forward to meeting new people here at Southeast.

*Jim Rozen, AEA267 Teacher

Mr. Rozen is a very nice, cool, awesome person.  He is originally from Clear Lake, IA.  He graduated from Clear Lake High School, UNI.  What he likes to share about his family is his wife Maureen,who is a nurse, and his two boys and one girl.  His position at Southeast School is special education teacher.  2009 is his first year here, but he has taught for many years.  What he likes to do best is work with his students and he likes to integrate them into the classroom.  He does an awesome job. I can tell he loves his job very much and the students like him a lot, too.
